The World Health Organisation has released some helpful advice to clear up some of the myths that are circulating about COVID-19 or the Coronavirus.

Here's a quick overview of what they've tackled:

  • COVID-19 virus CAN be transmitted in areas with hot and humid climates
  • Cold weather and snow CANNOT kill the new coronavirus
  • Taking a hot bath does NOT prevent the new coronavirus disease
  • The new coronavirus CANNOT be transmitted through mosquito bites
  • Hand dryers are NOT effective in killing the new coronavirus
  • Ultraviolet disinfection lamps do NOT kill the new coronavirus
  • Spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body does NOT kill the new coronavirus
  • Vaccines against pneumonia (ie. pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) vaccine) do NOT provide protection against the new coronavirus
  • Regularly rinsing your nose with saline does NOT help prevent infection with the new coronavirus
  • People of ALL AGES can be infected by the new coronavirus
