I was returning from my Sunday walk and stopped at the local coffee shop. This gentleman asked me politely if I would like to play a round of chess with him. I thought why not, and agreed after telling him I wasn't an experienced player.
He said he was once a decent player, but lacked practice in recent years. We discussed life and played. He is of the same age as my parents and has a son named Mikko as well. Before retirement, he had spent his career as a consultant and recruiter.
Random encounters like this make life worth it. I am sure this fleeting moment discussing and playing with a stranger without care for the world on a Sunday afternoon was a highlight of the day for both of us.
Thanks for this lovely story Mikko!
